Approach to Patient Care

My philosophy is to care for every patient as if they were part of my family. I want to ensure that if I am allowed the privilege to be a partner in someone’s healthcare, that they have the same commitment, attention, and respect I would give to those closest to me. As a clinician, ensuring I have met my patient's needs according to their wishes and abilities is of the utmost importance to me.

I also do my best to teach and support health prevention and maintenance and make health education a top priority for my patients and their families. Depending on the concern, I feel it is essential for people to understand what is happening in their body, the disease process, the options for treatment, and the plan of care. I truly believe and know from personal experience that the more a patient understands, the less daunting the healthcare process can be.

I began my career working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Legacy Emanuel Children’s Hospital. Eventually, I decided to shift focus to family medicine and worked for Northwest Primary Care as an RN for 13 years. I found my ultimate passion in family medicine at NWPC! Having the privilege to care for an entire family is such a gift, and is why I made the decision to attend the University of Portland’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program and become a family nurse practitioner. I have continued to focus much of my time and studies on pediatric and women’s healthcare, but I also hold a special place in my experience and practice for the rest of life’s spectrum.

Personal Interests

Outside of NWPC, family is my life! I am proud to be a wife and mom of two awesome kids! We are very active and love to hike around the many trails in the pacific Northwest. I also enjoy cooking, especially new gluten-free recipes for me and my daughter to try. My kids are great at keeping me busy; my favorite times are when I have the opportunity to watch them play sports. My daughter plays volleyball and is a fantastic dancer, and my son plays soccer and basketball. I'm also his soccer coach, one of the most fun things I have ever done, while being a true test of patience. Once our world slows down, I love relaxing with my friends and catching a Netflix series or documentary with my wonderful husband.
