Approach to Patient Care
Growing up I saw the interactions between my Aunt, who struggled with lupus, and her doctors, and seeing their care and compassion during difficult times made me realize early on that I wanted to become a physician.
I chose to train in Family Medicine because of its ability to provide full-spectrum care for patients and their families, from birth to end of life. I love building partnerships with my patients to help them achieve their personal health goals and needs.
A doctor is often there at some of the best and worst moments of a patient's life, and I strive to be a familiar and comforting presence during difficult times. Whether it be celebrating the birth of a new child, providing support to families coping with Alzheimer’s, listening and helping those struggling with their depression, teaching someone with chronic illness how to take better care of themselves, or guiding patients through gender transitions, I see my role as a doctor to be a helpful and stabilizing point for my patients. I love keeping the "family" in family medicine, providing care across multiple generations of patients. I cherish the partnerships I form with my patients, seeing myself as part of a team that includes them, their family, and the greater community as well as the healthcare team.
Personal Interests
Outside of clinic, I like to spend time with my husband, our two beautiful children, and our two dogs. I enjoy being outdoors, both hiking in nature and exploring the local food scene. At home, if I get a rare quiet moment, I enjoy cross-stitching, reading and playing board games and video games with the family.
