Approach to Patient Care
I am so pleased to be part of a team whose members complement each other's knowledge and skills. My goal is that all my patients feel heard, seen, and safe. My role as a physician is to listen, generate ideas to diagnose and treat a problem, and to partner with the patient to make realistic goals and treatment plans. It is very satisfying to help patients take even small steps to better health. I am motivated by making that human connection.
I grew up in small towns across Indiana. My childhood was filled with large Sunday dinners with lots of cousins, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Family gatherings often involved a pickup basketball game. I graduated from Indiana University in 1991 with bachelor degrees in biology and psychology; I loved that I could combine these two fields in medicine. I completed medical school and residency training in Bloomington and Indianapolis. After residency, my husband and I decided to take a leap and join his family in Oregon. We live in Happy Valley with our two children, a grandma, a bunny, a cat, and a corn snake. I enjoy reading, crocheting, cooking, gardening, and watching almost any kind of sports. We love taking weekend trips to the Oregon Coast.
