Changes To Medicare Policy

Beginning January 1, 2015, Northwest Primary Care will no longer be able to accept patients with NEW Original Medicare coverage.  Original Medicare for many years has reimbursed medical clinics below the cost to provide service and we want to ensure that our medical group is able to continue offering quality and timely care to our patients.  We regret the need to make this change, but are no longer able to sustain this effort.
It is important to know the following:

  • Established patients with current Original Medicare coverage will continue to be served without any change.  If you are seen at Northwest Primary Care under Original Medicare prior to January 1st, we will continue to bill Original Medicare for your coverage.
  • New or established patients who become eligible for Medicare coverage after January 1st, should consider one of the many Medicare Advantage plans that Northwest Primary Care participates in, including Providence Health Plan, United Healthcare, Healthnet of Oregon, Humana and Pacific Source.
  • For Dual Eligible (Medicare + Medicaid) members, Northwest Primary Care participates in the Providence MA Healthplan for Dual Eligible members.

If you have questions about what option is best for you as a Medicare member, based on years of our current Medicare member’s experiences, we recommend that you call Willamette Valley Benefits to schedule an appointment.  They will review your current prescriptions and hospital/specialist needs and then guide you in a direction that will provide the best coverage based on their findings.  There is no cost to you.  Willamette Valley Benefits can be reached at 503.659.5566.
