What to know about telehealth virtual visits
Northwest Primary Care is pleased we can now offer virtual visits as part of our efforts to reduce the potential for Coronavirus exposure at our clinics.
A virtual visit means you can have an appointment with your practitioner right from your home using a phone, tablet or computer.
Of course, not all health issues are right for a virtual visit. If your practitioner feels a virtual visit is appropriate for you, we will call you with more information before your currently scheduled appointment.

- What is a virtual visit?
A virtual visit lets you see and talk to one of our practitioners online from your phone, tablet or computer.
- Can I have a virtual visit?
Virtual visits are perfect for some of our patients, but not for everyone. Your practitioner will decide if a virtual visit is right for you.
- How do I schedule a virtual visit?
If you currently have an appointment scheduled at Northwest Primary Care and your practitioner feels a virtual visit is appropriate for you, we will contact you with more information before your appointment. If you do not yet have an appointment, call 503.659.4988, and the practitioner will decide if a virtual visit is right for you.
- What does it cost?
Virtual visits are billed to your insurance company just like a regular office visit and you may have a co-pay due.
- What technology do I need?
Northwest Primary Care uses Zoom for video and audio during our virtual visits.
You can use a smart phone, tablet, Mac, or PC with a microphone and camera. You will need to install the free Zoom app on your phone or tablet. A day or two before your visit, please test your device using these instructions for audio, and video and check that your camera and microphone are working properly. This video conference tool is equipped with end to end encryption to ensure the security of your visit.
- Do you have a virtual visit scheduled and are having technical problems?
If you run into any issues, our helpdesk is available from Monday through Friday 7:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. to assist you at 503.353.1250.
- Why are you offering virtual visits now?
As part of the COVID-19 crisis response, the federal government recently removed certain barriers to telehealth. Now, patients can access a range of medical practitioners remotely using a phone or computer instead of having to visit a practitioner in person.
- What should I do in to get ready a few days before my appointment?
- Follow the technology set up instructions below:
- Call our help desk if you have any issues at 503.353.1250, Monday-Friday from 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.
- If possible, have a back-up phone, tablet or computer in case you have technical issues.
- Find a quiet, private place to have your visit.
- If you are using a phone or tablet for your visit, figure out a location to place it so it can be steady and the practitioner can see you clearly. Holding it in your hand will make the appointment shaky and give your practitioner motion sickness
- What should I do on the day of my appointment?
- Leave plenty of time to get ready for your visit to fix any technology issues that may come up.
- Join the visit 15 minutes before your scheduled visit time.
- Please be patient with this technology. This is new to everyone.
