Your Home for Pediatric and Adolescent Care
Choosing a provider for your child is a different kind of decision than choosing one for yourself. You are looking for the provider your child will grow up with. Someone who knows what they were like at age five and can put that in context at age fifteen and beyond.
At Northwest Primary Care, pediatric and adolescent care happens within our family medicine practice. That means your child's provider is part of the same practice caring for you, and in many cases, can be the same provider!
Care From the Start Through Young Adulthood
Our family medicine providers care for patients from birth through adulthood. For families, that means every member of the family can attend the same clinic and even see the same provider. That includes parents, children, and in many cases, grandparents.
Pediatric and adolescent care at NWPC includes:
- Newborn and infant care
- Well-child visits at every developmental stage
- Immunizations and vaccine schedule management
- Sick visits and acute illness care
- Growth and developmental monitoring
- Behavioral and learning concerns
- Adolescent health and preventive care
- Sports physicals and clearance exams
- Mental health screening and referral
- Transition planning to adult care
Well-Child Visits and Preventive Care
Well-child visits are the backbone of pediatric care. These visits are not just a quick check on height and weight. They are the visits where your provider tracks developmental milestones, ensures your child is up-to-date with the immunization schedule, screens for emerging concerns, and gives you a chance to ask questions.
Your NWPC provider will follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for well-child visits, which are recommended from birth through age 18. You can always schedule a visit with your child’s provider at any time for illness, injury, sudden behavioral changes, or urgent health concerns that cannot wait for a scheduled check-up.
Adolescent Care
For adolescent patients, we address:
- Annual preventive exams
- Sports physicals and injury evaluation
- Mental health screening, including anxiety and depression
- Reproductive and sexual health
- Substance use screening
- Chronic condition management
- Transition planning as patients move into adult care
Immunizations and Vaccine Schedules
Keeping your child's immunizations current is one of the most straightforward and effective things you can do for their long-term health. Your NWPC provider follows the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics recommended vaccine schedule, and will keep your child's records current and accessible.
If you have questions about specific vaccines or the schedule, be sure and ask your child’s provider. Immunizations are a safe and highly effective way to keep your child, family, and community healthy.
When Your Child Is Sick
When your child is sick, we encourage you to give our team a call. Established patients often have access to same-day visit availability, allowing your child to be seen by an available provider as quickly as possible.
Our scheduling team can help arrange timely care and may be able to save you the long wait times and higher costs often associated with urgent care or emergency room visits for non-life-threatening concerns. If emergency care is needed, please seek immediate medical attention.

The Advantage of Family Medicine
Because NWPC's pediatric care happens within a family medicine practice, your child's provider has access to the full context of your family's health history. Conditions that run in families, patterns that emerge over time, and the kind of background knowledge that only comes from caring for the same household across years: all of that is available to the provider seeing your child.
The best part? Your child can continue to see the same provider into adulthood, if they choose. This can ease the transition into managing their own healthcare as an adult.
